Early Life and Career
Russell Malone was born on November 8, 1963, in Albany, Georgia. He began playing guitar at the age of five and was heavily influenced by the music of Wes Montgomery, George Benson, and B.B. King.
In 1988, Malone joined the Jimmy Smith Trio, and in 1992, he began working with Harry Connick Jr.
Solo Career
Malone released his debut solo album, "Russell Malone," in 1993. The album was a critical and commercial success, and it established Malone as one of the leading jazz guitarists of his generation.
